Shares of CoreWeave Inc (NASDAQ:CRWV) are falling Tuesday morning, reversing recent gains as mounting Middle East geopolitical tensions and spiking Treasury yields triggered a broad market sell-off.

Treasury Yields Spike and Middle East Tensions Weigh on AI Sector

Market sentiment turned risk-averse Tuesday following renewed uncertainty in the Middle East. Escalating geopolitical friction pushed crude oil prices sharply higher, reigniting concerns over sticky energy inflation and forcing government bond yields upward.

The U.S. 10-year Treasury yield climbed past 4.74% early Tuesday, while long-term 30-year yields reached multi-decade highs. For capital-intensive technology companies like CoreWeave, higher interest rates elevate future capital costs and compress price-to-earnings multiples on growth-oriented equities.

Strong Q2 Earnings Overshadowed by Macro Headwinds

CoreWeave last week posted stronger-than-expected second-quarter financial results. The company reported revenue of $2.58 billion, up 112% year-over-year, and raised its full-year 2026 sales guidance up to $13.2 billion on unrelenting demand for AI compute infrastructure.

Executive leadership reiterated confidence in its expanding infrastructure footprint during the earnings call. “CoreWeave reached an important inflection point this quarter as our scale began to translate into expanding operating leverage,” Chief Executive Officer Michael Intrator told investors.

Despite a revenue backlog over $100 billion, CoreWeave’s upgraded 2026 capital expenditure target of $35 billion to $39 billion leaves its valuation vulnerable to rising debt financing costs and broader macroeconomic shocks.
