Robinhood Markets Inc. (NASDAQ:HOOD) stock traded higher on Wednesday, primarily driven by momentum around its newly launched Robinhood Chain blockchain platform.

Comments from CEO Vlad Tenev highlighting a global “tokenization supercycle” further supported market interest.

Tenev Pushes For Stock Tokens

In an X article posted on Tuesday, Tenev stated that the financial ecosystem is in the “early innings of a global tokenization supercycle.”

Tenev noted that tokenized stocks are not yet available in the U.S., despite growing interest. Robinhood launched tokenized stock products for European customers last year, featuring blockchain-powered equities of private firms like OpenAI and SpaceX.

Tenev confirmed these stock tokens carry full backing by underlying securities and offer dividend exposure.

Call For U.S. Regulatory Progress

Tenev urged U.S. policymakers to “move quickly” to modernize financial rules. He added: “It would be a strange outcome if the rest of the world could build the future of ownership around American assets while Americans themselves were left behind.”

Meanwhile, the SEC prepares a framework offering a regulatory sandbox “innovation exemption” for qualified firms trading tokenized securities under lighter-compliance conditions.

Broader Market Objectives

During Robinhood’s second-quarter earnings call last month, Tenev expressed a desire to broaden retail stock market access.

He noted that the company seeks a “durable” foundation for crypto and views the CLARITY Act as a step toward that goal.

Critical Levels To Watch for HOOD Stock

At current levels, HOOD is trading 0.8% below its 20-day simple moving average ($93.98) and 6.2% below its 50-day simple moving average ($99.43), which keeps the intermediate trend pressure tilted lower. At the same time, it’s trading 5% above its 100-day simple moving average ($88.84), suggesting the pullback has so far stayed more “reset” than “breakdown.”

The longer-term picture is mixed: the 50-day SMA is still above the 200-day SMA (a golden cross that occurred in August), but price is currently 3.6% below the 200-day SMA ($96.75), which is a common “prove it” zone for trend followers. Zooming out, the stock is down 14.86% over the past 12 months and remains well below its 52-week high of $153.86, so rallies can run into overhead supply from prior buyers looking to get back to even.

From a levels standpoint, traders are watching tight nearby references that can define the day’s risk.
