Grayscale on Tuesday launched the world’s first Zcash (CRYPTO: ZEC) ETF under the ticker (NYSE:ZCSH) on NYSE Arca as ZEC hit an eight-year high of $867.
What Is the Zcash ETF?
According to a Grayscale press release, ZCSH is the first exchange-traded product anywhere in the world offering spot exposure to ZEC, the native token of the Zcash network.
The fund allows investors to access ZEC through their existing brokerage accounts without the operational complexity of buying and storing the asset directly.
Launched in 2016, Zcash pairs Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC)-like features including a 21 million coin supply cap and Proof-of-Work consensus with optional transaction privacy.
Users can choose to transact transparently or shield sender, recipient, and amount details while the network still verifies the transaction.
Grayscale Head of Index Steve Vanourny noted in the release that as AI reshapes how financial activity can be monitored, demand for genuine financial privacy will only grow.
What Analysts Are Saying About ZEC
ETF Store President Nate Geraci flagged on X that the world’s first Zcash ETF is now live, highlighting its Bitcoin-like supply cap combined with optional privacy as the key differentiator.
Meanwhile, Multicoin Capital co-founder Tushar Jain called Zcash “what Bitcoin was meant to be,” a view analyst Arjun Khemani noted many in the space have echoed, with some now referring to ZEC as “perfect Bitcoin.”
The privacy angle has gained fresh relevance as AI surveillance capabilities expand and demand for financial privacy grows alongside them.
Moreover, Zcash completed its most recent major upgrade, Ironwood, in July 2026, making shielded transactions more practical and efficient while adding resilience against certain quantum computing risks that transparent ledger designs like Bitcoin currently face.
