Ouster, Inc. (NASDAQ:OUST) ("Ouster" or the "Company"), a leader in sensing and perception for Physical AI, today announced that GUSS Automation, a wholly owned John Deere Subsidiary and a pioneer in autonomous high-value crop operations, plans to incorporate Ouster’s Rev8 OS0 native color digital lidar sensors, powered by the breakthrough L4 Ouster Silicon, into the next generation of its Autonomous Orchard Machine Fleet. The integration is expected to further expand machine capabilities while underscoring the role of advanced sensing technologies in helping autonomous agricultural machines operate in complex outdoor environments.
Building on Ouster's recent momentum in industrial robotics, GUSS is embedding Ouster and other enterprise-grade capabilities into agricultural duty cycles. High-value crop environments introduce significant navigation challenges, as traditional GPS systems often lack the centimeter-level precision necessary to safely navigate dense orchards and vineyards.
Through a planned integration of Ouster’s Rev8 OS0 digital lidar, GUSS is addressing these complexities with additional perception capabilities for autonomous operations. Ouster technology equips driverless sprayers with an ultra-wide field of view, enabling them to map tree trunks, crop rows, and ground contours with a high level of detail. These autonomous vehicles also benefit from the dense 3D point cloud data Ouster lidar delivers, allowing them to support navigation and obstacle detection across a range of outdoor operating conditions, including varying lighting environments.

Engineered to meet the rigorous demands of production deployments in unstructured settings, the Rev8 platform brings enhanced environmental resilience to the field.
With the planned Rev8 integration, Ouster native color lidar sensors will provide additional sensing capabilities in challenging orchard environments, including dust, spray, and dense vegetation. This level of reliable sensing allows a single operator to monitor up to eight autonomous machines simultaneously from a laptop, providing complete control of spraying job outcomes executed by Orchard GUSS and Mini GUSS machines in a wide range of permanent crops. Spraying is just the first application: the same lidar-powered autonomy approach can be leveraged by other orchard and vineyard operations.
