Liquidia Corporation (NASDAQ:LQDA) stock is trading higher on Thursday after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted Fast Track designation for its YUTREPIA program.
FDA Fast Track Boosts Liquidia’s YUTREPIA Program
The FDA granted Fast Track designation to YUTREPIA (treprostinil) inhalation powder for Raynaud’s phenomenon associated with systemic sclerosis (SSc-RP), a condition described as affecting up to 90% of patients with systemic sclerosis.
Raynaud’s phenomenon is a medical condition where small blood vessels in the fingers and toes spasm and narrow, temporarily cutting off blood flow.
LQDA Technical Outlook: Key Levels And Momentum
With the stock at $70.50, it’s trading 6.3% below its 20-day SMA ($75.28) and 10.5% below its 50-day SMA ($78.80), which frames the current move as a bounce attempt inside a shorter-term downshift rather than a clean trend resumption.
At the same time, price remains 6.7% above the 100-day SMA ($66.10) and 38.4% above the 200-day SMA ($50.95), so the longer-term uptrend is still intact even after the recent pullback.
MACD is the cleaner momentum lens right now: it’s below its signal line with a negative histogram, which typically reads as upside pressure cooling unless buyers can push the trend back above that baseline.
That lines up with the moving-average structure where the 20-day SMA is below the 50-day SMA (bearish near-term), while the 50-day SMA remains above the 200-day SMA (bullish longer-term).
- Key Resistance: $83.00 — a nearby round-number/pivot area that also sits above the 50-day zone, where rebounds can stall
- Key Support: $69.50 — a nearby floor just under the current price where buyers have recently shown up
Analyst Consensus & Recent Actions: The stock carries a Hold rating with an average price forecast of $94.29. Recent analyst moves include:
- Wells Fargo: Overweight (Raises Forecast to $108.00) (August 13)
- B of A Securities: Neutral (Raises Forecast to $92.00) (August 13)
- LifeSci Capital: Downgraded to Market Perform (Forecast $90.00) (August 12)
How Liquidia Ranks On Momentum, Value, and Growth
Below is the Benzinga Edge scorecard for Liquidia, highlighting its strengths and weaknesses compared to the broader market:
- Momentum: Bullish (Score: 97.78) — The stock’s longer-run tape remains strong versus the broader market, even with the recent pullback from highs.
- Value: Weak (Score: 5.57) — The setup screens as expensive on traditional value metrics, which can raise the bar for execution.
- Growth: Neutral (Score: 47.93) — Growth expectations are more middle-of-the-pack, so the stock’s story can lean heavily on catalysts and follow-through.
The Verdict: Liquidia’s Benzinga Edge signal reveals a momentum-driven profile with a premium-valuation tradeoff.
For longer-term bulls, the key is whether the stock can defend the $69.50 support area and rebuild trend strength back toward the $83.00 resistance zone.
LQDA Stock Price Activity: Liquidia shares were up 0.70% to $70.18 at the time of publication on Thursday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
