Coinbase Global, Inc. (NASDAQ:COIN) remains in focus as investors weigh strength in crypto-linked stocks alongside the company’s push to expand infrastructure for its prediction-market business.
COIN stock traded about 1% higher during Wednesday’s premarket session even as broader index futures weakened. Nasdaq futures fell 0.47%, while S&P 500 futures declined 0.31%.
Coinbase Expands Event-Contract Processing
Coinbase is strengthening the infrastructure behind its event-contract business by adopting ION’s XTP for Event Contracts, allowing the company to process growing prediction-market volumes in real time while limiting the impact on existing operations.
The company selected XTP to support event-contract clearing for Kalshi, enabling real-time execution and processing, automated 24/7 operations and the onboarding of tens of thousands of accounts per day.
Coinbase and Kalshi are business partners that integrate Kalshi’s regulated prediction markets directly into the Coinbase app. ION, Coinbase and Kalshi began collaborating in December 2025 to support Kalshi’s event-contract listings.
During the initial rollout, XTP handled high-volume activity, including Kalshi’s first one million trades over Super Bowl weekend.
The platform also allows Futures Commission Merchants to manage event contracts alongside existing exchange-traded derivatives and cleared over-the-counter businesses through a single system, with automated settlement, reporting and multiexchange connectivity.

Management Highlights Scalability And Stability
Toni Gemayel, Head of Prediction Markets at Coinbase, said the technology provides the operational infrastructure Coinbase needs to expand its event-contract business while maintaining back-office stability and execution standards.
Kalshi Vice President of Business Development Max Crowley also highlighted XTP’s role in supporting operational risk management as the companies broaden access to regulated prediction markets.
The partnership gives Coinbase infrastructure designed to support higher transaction volumes, faster account onboarding and lower operational demands as its event-contract business grows.
