Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:SPCX) CEO Elon Musk has reaffirmed that the commercial spaceflight company will put NVIDIA Corp‘s (NASDAQ:NVDA) orbital AI computing system in space by next year.

Elon Musk Is ‘Highly Confident’

On Sunday, user RyanFox.eth took to the social media platform X, referencing an unnamed YouTuber saying that data centers in space could become a reality by 2035 if the cooling aspect were solved. “People really don’t get it,” the user said.

Musk responded to the user, expressing bullish sentiments on orbital AI compute. “I am highly confident that SpaceX will be launching Nvidia VR NLV72 AI computers in space next year,” he said.

Musk had earlier said SpaceX would put a space-optimized version of Nvidia’s Vera Rubin NVL72 system in orbit in the fourth quarter of 2027, with "significant" scale expected in 2028.

SpaceX’s $13 Billion Compute Deal

SpaceX CFO Bret Johnsen recently revealed that the commercial spaceflight giant had reached an agreement with an unnamed company to provide compute capabilities that would result in annual recurring revenue (ARR) of $13 billion for the company.

SpaceX also has compute agreements in place with companies like Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOGL) (NASDAQ: GOOG) and Anthropic. Earlier, Musk had said that the company had a non-zero chance of reaching $1 trillion in revenue by 2030.

The commercial spaceflight company also unveiled the fourth-generation Starlink router, touting faster peak speeds, as well as better connectivity in congested areas, water resistance and Wi-Fi 7 technology among other new features.

Price Action: SPCX shares fell 1.73% to $148.59 during overnight trading.
