Coinbase Global Inc. (NASDAQ:COIN) CEO Brian Armstrong once suggested that people prioritize their personal health and well-being before focusing on anything else.
‘Foundation Should Be There in Place’
Appearing on the Katie Miller Podcast that aired on Aug. 26, Armstrong said there’s a “foundation of things” everyone should get in place.
“It’s exercise, it’s nutrition, and it’s sleep, and let’s say mental health,” said the cryptocurrency billionaire. “There’s a bunch of stuff you can go do beyond that, but I think the foundation should be there in place first.”
Talking about his routine, Armstrong shared that he trains six days a week, always including some cardio and weightlifting.
Armstrong also stressed the importance of getting enough rest, adding that he averages seven and a half hours of sleep.
Taking Care of Mental Health
Armstrong then delved into the importance of mental health.
“The mental health part is important too because we can all be caught up in the day of just fight or flight and opening your phone in the morning and looking at all the scary messages coming in and crazy debates happening,” he added.
Armstrong added that he makes it a point not to look at that stuff for at least an hour in the morning.
A former Airbnb software engineer, Armstrong cofounded Coinbase in San Francisco in 2012 with former currency trader Fred Ehrsam.
As of today, Coinbase is the largest U.S.-based cryptocurrency exchange, valued at over $52 billion and roughly $2.35 billion in daily trading volume, according to CoinGecko.
Armstrong’s net worth is $9.5 billion, according to Forbes, making him the world’s second-richest cryptocurrency billionaire. He is the company’s largest individual shareholder, with a 17% stake.
