NASA Administrator and former Shift4 Payments Inc. (NYSE:FOUR) CEO Jared Isaacman has hailed Elon Musk-led Space Exploration Technologies Corp.‘s (NASDAQ:SPCX) successful Starship orbital launch on Monday.
Jared Isaacman Calls Starship Launch ‘Inspirational’
Quoting a post by SpaceX on the social media platform X, Isaacman congratulated SpaceX and called the Starship flight test a “gorgeous launch” and hailed SpaceX for getting the ship to orbit, as well as “managing every step in a safe, responsible, and especially inspirational way.”
The NASA Administrator then said that the agency, as well as the “interested public,” were “excited to help” and that he hoped that Starship missions “become routine!” in the future.
SpaceX conducted Flight Test 14 of the Starship on Monday after multiple delays, deploying the first batch of Starlink V3 satellites to orbit, adding to the more than 11,000 satellites SpaceX already has in the Starlink constellation in Low Earth Orbit. Musk was also bullish on Starlink, saying that the service could become the Earth’s internet in the future.
Elon Musk Touts Hourly Starship Flights
In the build-up to the launch, Musk had predicted that the Starship rocket was two to three years away from hourly launches, after earlier saying that SpaceX was targeting 30+ launches daily and 10,000 annual launches of the rocket by 2030.
Musk also said that SpaceX’s orbital data center satellites will cost far less than Wall Street analysts’ predictions, which put the costs anywhere between $160 billion and $180 billion.
Price Action: SpaceX shares were up 0.23% to $145.80 during overnight trading on Tuesday.
