Synopsys Inc (NASDAQ:SNPS) shares are trading higher by almost 2% on Wednesday. The company disclosed a multi-year strategic deal with Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) to accelerate the development of custom silicon for AI-powered products and cloud infrastructure.

Multi-Year IP And Custom Silicon Deal

The agreement, valued at more than $1 billion, expands Synopsys’ silicon IP business and introduces a license-plus-royalty model that aligns value with production volumes.

Under the partnership, Synopsys will use AWS services to accelerate product development and optimize its software for Amazon’s Trainium and Graviton chips. Amazon will serve as Synopsys’ lead customer for application-optimized IP.

Synopsys engineers will also use Amazon EC2 and Amazon Bedrock to speed up product development.

Synopsys and Amazon plan to apply AI across silicon-to-system engineering workflows, using Synopsys’ AI-powered EDA, physics-based simulation and agentic AI solutions.

They will also develop custom agentic AI tools to help Amazon’s engineering teams design, analyze, optimize and validate complex chips and systems more efficiently.

How Synopsys Ranks On Momentum, Value, Growth And Quality

Below is the Benzinga Edge scorecard for Synopsys, highlighting its strengths and weaknesses compared to the broader market:

  • Momentum: Weak (Score: 26.42) — Despite today’s gain, the broader momentum profile still screens as lagging versus stronger trend leaders.
  • Quality: Neutral (Score: 33.19) — The score suggests a middle-of-the-pack quality setup rather than a clear balance-sheet/earnings-consistency standout.
  • Value: Weak (Score: 6.94) — The stock screens as expensive on traditional value factors, consistent with a premium multiple.
  • Growth: Weak (Score: 5.85) — The growth score implies the market may be pricing in a lot already, leaving less room for error.

The Verdict: Synopsys’s Benzinga Edge signal reveals a premium-valuation setup with only moderate-to-weak factor support across momentum, growth, and value. For longer-term bulls, the cleaner thesis is "fundamentals + catalysts," but the chart likely needs follow-through above overhead moving averages to make the technical case as compelling as the story.
