Each week, Benzinga’s Stock Whisper Index uses a combination of proprietary data and pattern recognition to showcase five stocks that are just under the surface and deserve attention.

Investors are constantly on the hunt for undervalued, under-followed and emerging stocks. With countless methods available to retail traders, the challenge often lies in sifting through the abundance of information to uncover new opportunities and understand why certain stocks should be of interest.

Here’s a look at the Benzinga Stock Whisper Index for the week ending Oct. 2:

Argon Inc (NYSE:AGX): The construction company saw strong interest from readers during the week. Shares were up around 7% over the last week, but the stock still trades near its lowest levels since February of this year. The company beat analyst estimates for revenue and earnings per share in September and has consistently been beating estimates. Argon recently increased its quarterly dividend, which may also increase attention on the stock.

Microchip Technology (NASDAQ:MCHP): The semiconductor stock saw strong attention during the week, with shares up around 5%. Microchip Technology recently announced the expansion of its ethernet portfolio with the rollout of several new products. This could increase opportunities for the company moving forward.

Martin Marietta Materials (NYSE:MLM): The building materials company operates in what many would consider boring fields like asphalt and cement. Shares trade at their lowest levels since April 2025, which could signal investors looking elsewhere for investment ideas. The company also saw several analysts lower their price targets on the stock in recent weeks.

Terex Corporation (NYSE:TEX): The aerial work platform company saw strong interest from investors during the week, which comes ahead of third quarter financial results. The company has beaten analyst estimates for earnings per share in 10 straight quarters. Terex has also beaten analyst estimates for revenue in three straight quarters and in seven of the last 10 quarters overall. Terex raised its guidance for the full fiscal year back in July, which could set things up for a favorable third quarter. Investors may want to put this company’s upcoming earnings report on the watchlist.

XPO Inc (NYSE:XPO): The trucking company saw strong interest during the week, which comes with diesel prices rising nationwide. Shares were up around 7.5% on the week with several analysts updating their price targets. Susquehanna maintained a Neutral rating and raised the price target from $194 to $225. Bank of America Securities maintained a Buy rating and raised the price target from $228 to $230. Bank of America Securities analyst Ken Hoexter highlighted potential market share gains and stronger prices for XPO Inc. Hoexter raised third quarter and full-year earnings per share estimates. The analyst also increased full-year revenue guidance for XPO.
