Mark Cuban warned that workers who fail to keep pace with AI could face competition from people who know how to use the technology more effectively, while Box Inc. (NYSE:BOX) CEO Aaron Levie highlighted new jobs emerging around AI adoption.
Cuban’s AI Job Warning
On Sunday, the billionaire investor and entrepreneur shared a post from Levie on X and wrote, "AI won’t take your job. Someone who knows how to use AI better than you will take your job."
Levie argued that the AI boom is already creating new employment opportunities as companies work to deploy the technology across their operations.
AI Creates New Jobs
"We’re already starting to see what kind of new jobs AI is creating," Levie said, pointing to demand for AI engineers who build applied AI products, forward-deployed engineers who deploy AI agents inside companies and new services firms focused on AI implementation.
He also said published employment statistics may not fully capture the shift because existing data, research and software roles are being repositioned toward AI-related work.
He said banks, life sciences companies, manufacturers and law firms are adding technical talent or moving existing workers into roles focused on deploying AI agents.
"It’s a lot easier to picture what AI can replace vs. what it creates until it starts happening," Levie said. "Now we’re seeing what this looks like."
AI Seen as a Job Creator
Last week, Kevin O’Leary said AI increased productivity, reduced repetitive work and created better-paying opportunities. He said more than 50 of his companies used AI to cut costs and improve productivity.
In August, Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:NVDA) CEO Jensen Huang argued that AI would ultimately create more jobs than it eliminated by increasing productivity, profits and business investment.
Bill Gates had warned that AI could displace entry-level and mid-level workers.
In June, Apollo Global Management (NYSE:APO) Chief Economist Torsten Sløk said there was "zero evidence" of widespread AI-related job losses, pointing to continued hiring and growing demand linked to AI implementation and data center construction.
