XRP (CRYPTO: XRP) is approaching a potential technical breakout as its price compresses inside a triangle while Ripple’s push to expand the token’s institutional utility provides another catalyst.

Is XRP Inching Closer To A Big Move?

Crypto chart analyst Ali Martinez said XRP is “inching closer to a big move” as price approaches the apex of its consolidation triangle.

A four-hour close above $1.53 could confirm a bullish breakout and open the door to $1.62.

Whales have remained largely sidelined over the past week, with no significant change in their XRP holdings.

That suggests a potential breakout has yet to be accompanied by renewed accumulation from large holders.

Ripple Eyes XRP Shift From Payments

At the XRP Seoul 2026, Ripple President Monica Long said XRP could expand beyond its bridge-asset role, with Ripple piloting XRP-backed lending for short-term customer credit.

Once XRPL’s lending protocol launches, targeted for 2027, XRP could be locked as collateral to fund payment obligations, shifting it from a “flow” asset toward a “stock” asset.

With tokenized real-world assets on XRPL reaching roughly $6 billion, the key test is whether these pilots translate into institutional XRP demand.

XRP Asia Targets Developers, Startups

Singapore-based XRP hub XRP Asia launched to support developers, startups and XRP communities through training programs, hackathons, grants, partnerships and investor introductions.

It will build on existing XRPL communities in Japan and South Korea while expanding into other major Asian technology hubs.
