The world’s richest man is back over the trillion dollar net worth milestone once again thanks to a surge in Space Exploration Technologies Corp (NASDAQ:SPCX) stock Monday. Here’s how much Elon Musk is now worth.
Elon Musk the Trillionaire
In June, Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) and SpaceX CEO Musk became the world’s first trillionaire, with the IPO of the space company acting as the catalyst to push his net worth to the record-breaking milestone.
Musk hit a high of $1.45 trillion in net worth with the surging price of SpaceX after the space company went public.
Weeks and months later, the decline of SpaceX stock has sent Musk’s fortune back down to the hundreds of billions of dollars in net worth.
Musk is worth an estimated $1.04 trillion as of Monday, according to Forbes. Musk gained $58.7 billion in net worth on Monday thanks to a 7.6% gain for SpaceX stock and a 2.2% gain for Tesla stock.
Musk owns around 38% of SpaceX and around 11% of Tesla.
The gains by Musk on Monday ranked significantly ahead of the next highest gainer, with Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg adding $4.9 billion to his net worth.
Musk also ranks significantly ahead of second-place Jeff Bezos, the next richest person in the world with a net worth of $372.7 billion.
With a net worth of $1.04 trillion, Musk could see his fortune fall under the trillion-dollar milestone again if Tesla or SpaceX suffers a major drop. Tesla stock is up 5.7% over the last five trading days, but remains down 13.6% year-to-date. SpaceX stock is up over 16% in the last five trading days and trading at its highest levels since June 2026.
Elon Musk’s Path to $1 Trillion
Musk became a billionaire at the age of 41 and later became the world’s richest person thanks to Tesla’s share price.
Musk was worth so much at one point in 2021 that he could buy every MLB, NBA, NFL and NHL team.
A drop in Tesla’s share price in 2022 took Musk’s wealth down so much that he was awarded a Guinness World Record for the biggest one-year drop in net worth.
After being passed by Bernard Arnault and falling to the second-richest person in the world, Musk regained the title of richest man in the world in 2023 thanks to a recovery in Tesla’s share price.
Musk’s wealth increased by $92 billion in 2023 in one of the biggest one-year jumps ever, ending the year worth $229 billion.
The Tesla CEO ended 2025 worth an estimated $619 billion, according to Bloomberg.
There are also new pay packages that could take Musk’s net worth even higher.
Musk could earn around $1 trillion from a Tesla pay package if all milestones are met in the future.
The billionaire also has a compensation agreement with SpaceX that could pay out an additional billion shares in the space company if milestones are met.
